About
What I Believe:
Education is about inquiry and discovery and being able to apply learned knowledge to real world situations. I have a core belief that all students have incredible potential and uniqueness about them, and that every conversation with a student is an opportunity to add value to their lives.
What I do:
I am a proactive counselor and student advocate whose strength lies in the acceptance of “who” students are, building strong relationships, integrating ideas, developing programs, and finding creative innovative ways in which to meet needs. Character education, classroom guidance, group counseling, and individual guidance are all venues that assist me in guiding students toward their educational and personal goals.
I enjoy developing curriculum, programs and partnering with an educational team. It is what prompted me to further my education in both teaching and technology.
I have greatly enjoyed presenting at conferences, professional development sessions and parent coffees. The conversations that happen among professionals and parents enhance what I do in the schools. I have presented on topics such as “Online Profiles”, “Tech Savvy Teens”, “Stress”, “Communication with your Teen”, “Transitions” (moving in and moving away, as well as grade level transitions), and “Integrating classroom guidance”.
Where I’ve Been:
I have lived and worked in Washington State, USA as well as in Shanghai, China. However, the journey began long before I graduated from High School. From the agricultural area of Sunnyside, WA to the Mountains of Colville, WA to the Corn Fields of Indiana to the lakes of Spokane, WA, over to the Sound of Silverdale, WA to Poulsbo, WA to Spokane, WA and over to the massive metropolis of Shanghai, China. Life has certainly had its fill of airports.
I now excitedly look toward the journey of repatriating home to the US.
